The demand for compatibility: Battle of The Browsers

Browser Compatibility

Do you remember the days of Netscape, AOL, & premature versions of Internet Explorer?  That was a long time ago but perhaps not that long enough for those are still using it.  The demand for compatibility on your website continues to rise as there are browsers on the market that are rapidly evolving while new ones are popping out elsewhere.  One of the few things that every website owner should be concerned about is the compatibility of their website with the latest browser versions.  Recently we’ve even encountered some cases where a website owner was concerned about primarily optimizing their website for Internet Explorer 7.0 due to the fact that it was their preferred choice.  It doesn’t quite work that way any longer.

Not your choice:  The Market Decides

It’s NOT about what you want as a consumer because it simplifies your browsing experience.  Think about the potential clients and prospects that will visit your website and approach it most likely with a different browser other than the one you’re using.  That’s right!  Just because you’re a Windows PC user doesn’t mean anything to someone that’s using a MAC and attempting to browse your website using the mighty Safari browser.  When building your new website or optimizing a current you should focus primarily on browser compatibility.  Some of the most common browsers that are out on the marketing and widely used are Internet Explorer 8.0, Mozilla FireFox, Google Chrome, Safari.  Whether you’re using a PC or MAC chances are you’re using of these browsers.

The hard data speaks for itself and based on last month’s results (July 2010) it appears that the leader in the ultimate user browsing experience remains to be none other than Mozilla’s FireFox.

Fact: Mozilla was a part of the old and original web browser Netscape Navigator.  After acquisition by AOL Mozilla broke out as its own company and pursued the development of today’s FireFox.

A preference of a browser based on your liking simply won’t improve the user experience of your website.  Ensure that the code of your existing website is compliant with the latest browsers and in particular with FireFox.
